What Is a Kangoo Jumps Workout?
Kangoo Power is a highly motivating interval training programme built around a series of simple exercise progressions taught in a 32–64-bar musical format. The movements are repeated at different levels of intensity and then joined into a combination. A new combination is then created and added to the first. The result is a series of interconnected combinations or blocks that form a continuous workout at several levels.
In other words, we repeat a movement until we become comfortable performing it correctly and safely. Then we learn a second movement, repeat it and add it to the first, followed by a third, and so on, until we have a block of movements. We build a second block with different movements, then a third. Finally, we link the blocks into a continuous choreography that starts with very simple movements and gradually becomes more complex.
The basic movements are very simple and can become more complex and intense as you progress. This makes the programme appealing to a wide range of participants, including people who do not usually attend group exercise classes. Whatever the teaching style, many participants become enthusiastic about Kangoo Power because of the extraordinary feeling it creates, mainly through the release of adrenaline and endorphins. It feels like jumping on a trampoline as a child — it is indescribable, almost like flying. And the more you jump, the more you want to keep jumping. One of my clients says: ‘I don’t come to Kangoo because I have to exercise. I come because I enjoy it.’ It is also a great way to spend time with your children and exercise while having fun together. Children are thrilled by the rebound shoes. Other clients tell me they have never liked sport, but Kangoo Jumps feels different from activities they attend out of obligation. When I led the children’s group, some children were significantly overweight. Their parents had tried all kinds of sports, but the children would give up after 2–3 visits. Then they discovered my sport. The shoes make them feel light, and they have fun. Parents say it is the only sport their children want to attend and feel good doing.
